Toronto for Christmas 2006

To read about our trip, go here.

Here are some of my favourite shots (taken on Dec 24, 2006 with Fujifilm FinePix F30):

Dundas and Yonge, looking more and more crowded with every visit:

Atlanta

Took my new Fujifilm FinePix F30 for a spin in Atlanta.
The Georgia Aquarium was worth the visit!

First snowboarding trip of the season! I hope to do at least another before it's over...

Koryo brunch

Whenever we need a Korean food fix, you usually come to Koryo since it's close by. Recently, they decided to do an all-you-can-eat brunch. The logistics aren't very well thought out since it's a order-as-you-eat structure and they're slow and limit you to 3 orders per table at a time. It's strange. AND they put a lot of presentation into the dish. For an all-you-can-eat brunch, it's almost unnecessary but I still do appreciate how pretty everything looks. Taken with SD300...

San Francisco - Golden Gate Bridge

On our recent trip to San Francisco, we had the opportunity to take a ton of photos :)

This was my money shot with the Rebel XT! JJ had many too!

Mon Ami Gabi

I would say that the food at Mon Ami Gabi isn't as good as the food at Brasserie Jo. The space is also more cramped but this makes up for it!

Trevi Fountain, Rome

Of the hundreds of photos we took on our trip to Rome, I have to say that this one is my favourite!

Taken on July 16, 2006 (this one was taken with Canon SD300 and it turned out the best!)

Cloud Gate 9, Millennium Park

The "bean" is open again! New and brilliantly polished! This thing is awesome. Perfect stop on a lazy afternoon after my exam!!!!! :D

Downtown view from Diversey Yacht Club

An older picture (still winter!) taken with my S400 that I really like and am using as my desktop. Check out those flying ducks! Imagine what I could've done with the 350D - ducks up close and in action!

mid-April t-storms bring end-of-April flowers!

So what if that doesn't rhyme :)

Rainy Sunday

No, not Lazy Sunday...
Hmm... it was sort of lazy considering I seemed to have slept quite a bit.
We had tons of thunderstorms here in Chicago.
Here's a look at how I (and Rebel XT) was feeling:

First batch of experiments

With our brand new Canon 350D and the amazing 50mm f1.8 lens, we did a little experimentation on the classic "water droplet" study.

See the results, here.

Study break

These days, I'm surrounded by words because I am studying for an exam.
So here is what it's inspired me to do haha

Chopping Block class - Cupid's Arrow

JJ and I did our first cooking class together at the Chopping Block.

Memories of Yoshinoya?!

Back when I was in NYC, Bobby, Jonathan, and I went to Yoshinoya to eat that super cheap but so satisfyingly-good-once-in-a-while beef bowl. It was just so worth it because it filled you up for something like 3 bucks. But it was greasy so you couldn't eat it all the time.
Anyways, I finally found the microwaveable version of that! It's a little over 2 bucks... bought it from Chinatown but it doesn't have as much beef. Who cares! It tastes like it! :D

Year of the Dog

Even though I missed the Chinese New Year parade in Chinatown, Chicago, I was able to catch a little bit of traditional lion dance in front of certain stores and restaurants to spread the wealth (lettuce).

Night scenes of Chicago

I finally went to the trendy West Loop area to have dinner with some friends at the National Association of Asian American Professionals. Haha. I just went to check it out... I didn't join, probably better that way. Met some pretty cool people, Josina and Justin (another one haha). The dinner was at Dragonfly but it wasn't that good nor was the event that interesting. Instead, I took some night pictures around West Loop on the way home. I had a shot from the El at the Clinton stop but it didn't turn out so well so I'm replacing it with a shot I took a while back at the Chicago stop.

New Tokyo, East Lakeview, Chicago

Also taken a while back when Justin came to visit for Thanksgiving. He ordered this beautiful sashimi platter. My favourite value deal there is the Bento Box A (chicken teriyaki, miso soup, salad, sushi, and rice!) but not as photogenic as the sashimi platter!

Happy Chef, Chinatown, Chicago

I took this picture a while back in November 2005 but three people (Hongsa, JJ, and me) ate all this dim sum! Probably the best dim sum I've had in Chicago so far. JJ and I went again on Chinese New Year (Jan 29, 2006).

Happy 2006!

Salah's place was hopping with booze... met some cool people (the "kimchi" gang?!) hahaha... thanks Salah, for inviting us over.

Taken on Dec 31, 2005: Salah's fully-stocked fridge

Chris's place was hopping with... uh... well, let's just say that Bryan and Phil were involved :P
Cheers to a new year; thanks Andrew for bringing champagne and Chris for using your place!

Tiffany pot roast

Tiffany is always the gracious host who will take every opportunity to throw a food party! :D Thanks Tiff!
It was so great to see everyone at once; among friends... I do miss that.

Justin birthday dinner

Ryan, Sharmin, JJ and I celebrated with Justin on his birthday with a dinner in Greektown and desserts at Demetre. We're so hip...
